As the weather cools and your pool begins its slower winter cycle, a small adjustment can make a significant impact on both your water quality and your wallet. This week, we’re focusing on one of the simplest but most overlooked winter prep steps: dialing down your chlorine floater. With just a quick twist, you can stabilize your pool chemistry and save real money over the next several months.
As temperatures drop, your pool requires far less chlorine than it does during the heat of summer. The easiest way to match that lower demand is by adjusting your chlorine floater. Most floaters have a base that turns to open or close the veins (or vents) where water enters. For winter, simply rotate the base to close those openings. This slows the rate at which your chlorine tablets dissolve, and that small shift pays off in several ways.
