Where Do Phosphates Come From?

You might be surprised how many common things add phosphates to your pool: Leaves, Grass clippings Pollen, Twigs and bark, Flowers and flower petals, Seeds and seed pods, Insects and insect debris, Bird droppings, Animal hair or fur, Soil or dirt (from the wind or washed in by rain), Mulch, Pine needles and cones, Fruit or berries from nearby plants/trees.
